Croatia Itinerary

Making an itinerary for a Holiday in Croatia of course requires some online information source which can serve as a guide in the process of finalising the itinerary for the trip to Croatia. First step is of course to figure out where to go in Croatia, well that is actually also the hardest parts, as Croatia have so many beautiful places I can be a struggle to decide where to go, in this process price of plain ticket of course also plays a major role. Meanwhile there is plenty of Low cost airlines flying to mainly Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Pula, recently also Krk got some additional arrivals, price of course vary depending of the time a year, especially in July and August, I can be hard to understand why they are called Low cost airlines? Anyway our recommend in relation to plain tickets is to check all major low cost carriers like Ryanair, Easy jet and Wizz air, but also check Croatia Airlines and BA as they also have good offers from time to time.

Beach in Split Croatia

Once a decent selection of affordable plain tickets has been found it is time to decide about the destination, in the southern part of the country cities like Dubrovnik and Split is among the most popular, but also the islands in Dalmatia are something to consider, I can personally recommend Island Korcula, Island Vis, Island Hvar and Island Brac, but I am sure that the other island are also worth visiting.

In northern part of Dalmatia Zadar is a rising star which attracted more and more guest every year, the old town in Zadar is maybe not as beautiful as then one in Dubrovnik and Split, but I is for sure still something to see, with the airport situated only 15 km from the city centre in Zadar, the city is also quite easy to reach, in terms of Accommodation, Zadar offers pretty much the whole range, from cheap hostel to high end 4 star hotels, then range of course also include a number of campsites as well as plenty of private accommodation. In north Dalmatia there are of course also other cities to consider like e.g. Pakostane, Biograd na moru which is one of the main cites for yacht charter in Croatia, of course Sibenik as a UNESCO sight is also not to miss out on.

In Kvarner cities like Novi Vinodolski and especially Opatija is something which should for sure be taken in to consideration as possible destinations, especially Opatija is city to see, one could easily think that they have ended up in Austria when they see the city, which is no wonder as the city was mainly build by Austrians. In Kvarner there are also some extremely nice islands to consider, like Island Cres, Island Rab or Island Krk, just to mention some of them, the island are relative easy to access with ferry, to that part shouldn’t be an obstacle.

The Istrian peninsula is of course something which of course also has to be considered as a destination, here there is plenty of really nice holiday destinations which would make most holiday guest more then happy.

Starting form the south peak of the peninsula, the first destination to consider is Medulin, the city used to be a small fishermen’s village, but since beginning of the 70th the city has evolved to be come a real touristic destination, the highlight of Medulin is more then 1 km long sandy beach which is surrounded by hotels and a campsite, another reason to pick Medulin is the beautiful nature in the area and the nature park Kamanjak which is perfect spot for walking and biking. In the area of Medulin there are 9 campsites and several larger hotels.

The next city which could be an excellent base for a Holiday in Istria is Pula, the city is with close to 70.000 people the “capital” of Istria. Pula is especially to recommend for those who like to visit historical sights as this can be found plenty fold in Pula, the top sight is beyond any doubt the Arena in Pula (Roman Amphitheatre), but there is plenty of other really old sight in the city like e.g. the Roman forum. For those who would like to combine the proximity of sights with all the feature of a holiday resort the place to go is called Verudela. Verudela is a holiday resort consisting of several hotels and a campsite, Verudela is situated just 4 km from the city centre in Pula.

A bit further up the Istrian coast the city Rovinj can be found, Rovinj is among the most popular holiday destinations in Croatia, the old town which is situated on a peninsula is one personal favourites in Croatia, the outer parts of the old town peninsula has plenty of nice restaurants which offer dinner with a view. In terms of accommodation, Rovinj has a several very large campsites in the vicinity, most of the hotels in Rovinj can be found a bit south of the city centre, but there are also a few minor hotels in the old town part.

The last city which I would like to recommend on the Istrian peninsula is Porec, the city is among the most visited destination in Croatia, in the summer population grow from 10 to close to 100.000, now you might ask your selves but where do all these people sleep? Well lots of them in campsites, the camping capacity in and around Porec is about 25.000 people, on top there is more then 20 large Hotels in Porec and of course numerous private accommodation units.

Hope this small guide trough Croatia will be useful in making an itinerary for a summer visit to Croatia, in addition to the tips abouve this information might also be helpful.
